What is a Call Tag?

A call tag is a request that is sent to a carrier to pick up one or more boxes from a specific location and ship to another location. The primary benefit of a call tag is that the pickup location doesn't need to print any labels for the boxes; instead the driver arrives at the pickup with those labels in hand. You can request call tags from carriers through ShipStore.

How to Send a Call Tag in ShipStore

  1.  Start by entering your shipment information as you normally would when shipping an order.

Remember: The "Ship To" address is ALWAYS the address the shipment is going to, and the "Ship From/Origin" is ALWAYS the address the item is being shipped from. So if you are trying to have boxes returned to you, your address is the Ship To and the customer's is the Origin.

2. Under the Shipment Options tab on the Ship screen, click the check box that says "Return Label (Call Tag)."

3. The Return Method drop down will allow you to choose several options. For a call tag, you'll want to choose either Single Attempt or Three Attempts. This will determine how many attempts the carrier will make at coming to pick up the package.

4. After making your selection, go back to the basics tab and process your shipment. If the shipment process as normal and you don't get any error messages, then the call tag was sent successfully.

Note: When sending a call tag, you will not typically have a label print. Remember, if the order processes error-free, then the call tag was sent successfully.
