Summary: ABOL shipments stopped working because APC retired the ABOL API. ABOL now shows as "SPC" in the carrier list, so re-register the carrier from scratch as SPC on the Carriers page.

Problem

A profile set up for the ABOL carrier stopped rating and shipping. The account had been flagged as likely to break for a while before it finally failed.

Cause

ABOL was an API from APC that Shipstore connected to. APC stopped offering the ABOL API, so the old connection can no longer sign in. The direct APC connection now shows in Shipstore under the carrier name "SPC." The retired ABOL registration cannot connect because the upstream API was shut off.

Fix

  1. Go to Administration > Carriers to open the Carriers page.
  2. Find SPC in the carrier drop-down (SPC is the current name for the former ABOL/APC service).
  3. Re-register the carrier from scratch under SPC and enter the registration information.
  4. Apply the re-registered SPC carrier to the affected profile.
  5. If SPC is not in the drop-down and your site is Enterprise (hosted), email support@shipstore.com and ask for the SPC carrier engine to be added for your site.
  6. Process a test shipment on the profile and confirm it rates and prints a label under SPC.

What you should see

A test shipment on the profile rates and prints a label under SPC. The old ABOL entry is no longer used.
