About the Separation

Why is FedEx Freight separating from FedEx?

As two independent businesses, FedEx and FedEx Freight can drive innovation and investment distinct to each business and attract investors who are the best fit for each company’s financial situation and goals. The change makes it easier for investors to see the individual performance of each company. The reliable service and support you have come to expect will not change, and both companies will continue to provide the same speed and coverage.

Will my service be disrupted during the transition?

No. Service will continue uninterrupted, and FedEx Freight expects customers to see improvements in booking, billing, and tracking.

Will my FedEx Freight service options change?

No. Commercial and residential delivery remain available through FedEx Freight Priority, FedEx Freight Priority Plus, FedEx Freight Economy, and FedEx Freight Direct. FedEx Custom Critical and other specialized LTL freight shipping services will also remain available.

Accounts, Logins, and Air Freight

Do I need a new FedEx account for FedEx Freight?

No. You can continue to use your existing FedEx Freight-enabled account number. If you do not have freight enabled on your account, contact your FedEx sales representative.

Will I need a new login for FedEx Freight?

FedEx will provide clear instructions on updating login paths as LTL tools migrate to the new FedEx Freight website. Your access to tracking, billing, automation, and historical shipping data will remain available.

Can I ship air freight with FedEx Freight?

No. FedEx air freight customers will continue to access that service through fedex.com.

Pricing, Agreements, and Discounts

What happens to my pricing agreements and discounts?

FedEx will begin separating parcel and LTL agreements in early spring 2026. If your agreement renews before that, it will be separated then. Until that happens, your current pricing agreement remains in effect. FedEx will use your historical shipping data to create comparable discounts for each new agreement.

Are there any changes to my FedEx Freight agreements and earned discounts after separation?

In November, all FedEx Freight customers received an email indicating that their agreements were being assigned to FedEx Freight, Inc. as a stand-alone company. If you have an active agreement with combined earned discount tiers covering both FedEx and FedEx Freight, you will be notified that those tiers have been separated before June 1, 2026. The FedEx Discount Detail Tool (FDDT) will be updated to reflect your separated tiers.

No action is required on your part. Day-to-day account management and service levels will remain unchanged, and you will continue to work with your existing representatives, systems, and support teams.

Will Earned Discounts continue?

Yes. Earned Discounts will continue separately for LTL and parcel shipments.

Will FedEx Freight still be part of the FedEx Rewards program?

No. FedEx Freight shipments will no longer earn FedEx Rewards points after April 30, 2026.

Shipping Automation and Integration Channels

The path forward depends on which FedEx tool or integration you use to create FedEx Freight shipments. The four channels below cover every scenario FedEx has documented.

FedEx Ship Manager (desktop software)

FedEx Ship Manager software must be updated to version 400x no later than May 31, 2026 to continue processing FedEx Freight shipments. Version 400x provides comprehensive LTL functionality and other features.

What you need to know:

  • The version 400x download is available now. You will be prompted to install the upgrade.
  • Accept the upgrade when prompted. If you do not receive a prompt or have issues, contact FedEx Technical Support at 1.877.339.2774 and say “FedEx Ship Manager Software” when prompted.
  • Before installing, close all open files and programs and turn off virus protection and firewall software, which may interfere with installation.

FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.com (web tool)

FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.com will no longer support LTL capabilities effective May 2, 2026. Comprehensive LTL functionality will reside on the new fedexfreight.com website starting that date.

To prepare, ensure your profile information is current, including email address and phone number.

SOAP-based FedEx Web Services

FedEx Web Services in its entirety, including shipping, will be retired on June 1, 2026. To maintain LTL capabilities through an API integration, you must upgrade to the RESTful FedEx API or another LTL-supported solution before that date.

All current SOAP-based Web Services customers must:

  1. Register for the new RESTful APIs at the FedEx Developer Portal.
  2. Migrate all existing Web Services processes to the new FedEx APIs.
  3. Disable or remove existing Web Services code.

Questions about the upgrade can be directed to FedEx Technical Support at 1.877.339.2774.

RESTful FedEx API

The RESTful FedEx API will continue to support LTL shipping after June 1, 2026. No additional action is required to support this transition.
