Summary: A FedEx international shipment fails when the packaging is a FedEx One Rate Flat Rate PAK. FedEx One Rate is a US domestic-only program, so switch the packaging to Custom Packaging for international shipments.
Problem
You process a FedEx international shipment with a FedEx One Rate Flat Rate PAK selected under Advanced Options for packaging, and it returns an error. Once you remove the Flat Rate PAK, it proceeds (though a separate ship-to address error may then need fixing).
Cause
FedEx One Rate, which uses flat-rate packaging like the Flat Rate PAK, is a US domestic-only program. Choosing a One Rate Flat Rate PAK on an international shipment is not valid, so FedEx rejects it. Any error left after you switch packaging usually points to the ship-to address.
Fix
- Open the shipment's Advanced Options and find the packaging selection.
- Change the packaging from the FedEx One Rate Flat Rate PAK to Custom Packaging.
- Reprocess the shipment.
- If an address error then appears, check the exact international ship-to address and correct it.
What you should see
The international shipment rates and prints a label once you use Custom Packaging and the ship-to address is valid.
