FedEx ship or tracking calls fail with a "try again later" message. This is a temporary problem on FedEx's side, not a Shipstore setting. Wait a few minutes and try again; it usually clears on its own.

Problem

FedEx ship calls, sometimes across a whole warehouse, or FedEx tracking updates suddenly fail with no configuration change. The message reads:

We are unable to process this request. Please try again later or contact FedEx Customer Service.

We encountered an unexpected error and are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please check back at a later time.

Cause

This message is returned by FedEx, not created by Shipstore. It means FedEx is having a short problem on its own side. Because it is on the carrier side, it is not fixed by changing Shipstore settings or re-registering the account, and it usually clears on its own once FedEx recovers.

Fix

  1. Check that the wording is FedEx's own message ("We are unable to process this request. Please try again later..." or "...please check back at a later time"). That tells you it is a FedEx-side response.
  2. Wait a few minutes and try the shipment or tracking update again.
  3. Check FedEx service status on the FedEx Developer Portal and FedEx service alerts to confirm a FedEx-side problem.
  4. Confirm other carriers still process in Shipstore. If they do, the problem is limited to FedEx.
  5. If it lasts well beyond a short window, contact FedEx Customer Service as the message says. If you are not sure whether the problem is FedEx or Shipstore, email support@shipstore.com with the error text and the times it happened.

What you should see

Trying again after a short wait works with no Shipstore change, and other carriers keep processing normally during the incident.
