Summary: When FedEx changes its API, no Shipstore work is needed. The new FedEx API is already built in. Re-add each FedEx account in Shipstore and register it with FedEx using the new process. This applies to FedEx parcel and FedEx Freight (LTL).
Before you start
You need your new FedEx credentials from the FedEx Developer Portal (your FedEx API Key and Secret Key) and admin access in Shipstore.
Steps
- Confirm your Shipstore version supports the new FedEx API. It is already built in on current versions.
- In Shipstore, re-add each FedEx account you use (for example, as Prepaid).
- Enter the new credentials from FedEx: put FedEx's API Key in the Shipstore Client ID field, and FedEx's Secret Key in the Shipstore Web Services Password / Client Secret field. Do not enter a meter number or web services key. The new API does not use them.
- Follow the FedEx registration process to register each account for the new API (the FedEx account registration and label certification walkthrough).
- Re-register FedEx Freight (LTL) accounts the same way. FedEx Freight's older Web Services is also retiring and needs the new FedEx REST API.
- Process a test FedEx shipment on each account and profile and confirm labels print under the new API.
What you should see
A test FedEx shipment produces a valid label on each re-registered account, with no FedEx authentication or deprecation errors. FedEx Freight accounts rate and ship under the new API.
If something goes wrong
FedEx "authentication failed" at setup. The credentials are likely in the wrong fields. Put the API Key in Client ID and the Secret Key in Web Services Password / Client Secret.
An account that worked before returns an authorization error. FedEx may have placed it on hold (for example, for inactivity) or not migrated it to the new API. Contact FedEx to confirm the account is active and migrated, then re-register it.
