Summary: SpeeDee (Spee-Dee) rating returns no rate and the message names the fuel surcharge. Spee-Dee changes its fuel surcharge every week, and the figure stored for your account has gone out of date. Email support so the current figure is loaded, then hard refresh and rate again.
Problem
You rate a shipment on SpeeDee (Spee-Dee) Delivery. The request goes through but no rate comes back. The message reads:
Origin SPEEDEECORE
Exception getting fuel surcharge
Outdated value: Fuel Surcharge was last updated on [date]
Update fuel surcharge to continue
Cause
Spee-Dee sets a fuel surcharge (an extra charge tied to the price of diesel) and changes it every week, with the new figure starting each Monday. Shipstore holds that figure for your Spee-Dee connection, and Spee-Dee checks it every time it rates. When the stored figure is older than the one Spee-Dee is using now, Spee-Dee will not return a rate and sends the message above instead.
The figure is held in the back end. It is not a field on a screen you can open, so you cannot change it yourself.
How to check: if the message names the fuel surcharge, this is the cause. Other Spee-Dee problems have other causes, and the related articles below cover those.
Fix
- Check that the message names the fuel surcharge (Origin SPEEDEECORE, Exception getting fuel surcharge, Outdated value: Fuel Surcharge was last updated on [date]).
- Email support@shipstore.com and ask for the stored Spee-Dee fuel surcharge to be updated to the figure Spee-Dee publishes now. Include your company name and the date shown in the message.
- Spee-Dee publishes the current figure on its own site at speedeedelivery.com, under Customer Service, then Fuel Surcharges. Include it in your email if you have it.
- Wait 10 to 15 minutes after support tells you the figure is updated.
- Hold CTRL+SHIFT+R to hard refresh Shipstore on each station, then rate again.
What you should see
Spee-Dee returns a rate in rate shop, the fuel surcharge message is gone, and Spee-Dee shipments process.
If something goes wrong
The same message comes back weeks later. Spee-Dee changes the figure every week, so it can go out of date again. Email support the same way.
Spee-Dee fails with an object reference error in early January instead. That is a different problem. See the related article on Spee-Dee and the new year.
Only closeout fails, not rating. See the related article on the closeout error.
