A USPS shipment sent through Stamps fails to process when the ship-from contact name has numbers in it (for example a trailing digit). Stamps does not allow numbers in the contact field. Remove the digits from the contact name and reprocess. Shipstore has since updated its logic to strip numbers from the contact for Stamps shipments.
Problem
A shipment you have sent to the same place many times (first seen on an APO military address) starts failing to process. The ship-from contact name has a number in it.
Cause
The Stamps carrier does not accept numbers in the contact field. When the ship-from contact name has a number (for example a trailing digit), Stamps rejects the shipment. Removing the number fixes it. Shipstore released an update that strips numbers from the contact for Stamps shipments only, so the value sent to Stamps is clean.
Fix
- Open the shipment (or the ship-from profile address) and find the contact name on the ship-from.
- Remove any digits from the contact name. If a suite or department number is still needed, move it to an address line.
- Reprocess the shipment.
- If Stamps shipments still fail after you remove the digits, email support@shipstore.com so support can confirm your version includes the contact-number fix and check the ship-from profile.
What you should see
The shipment processes with no error once the contact name has no digits, and other Stamps shipments from the same origin process normally.
