Summary: If UPS shipments fail with "Invalid or missing account number" right after you set up UPS in Shipstore with a new UPS login, the UPS account number is not linked to that login. Link the account number to the login, then ship again.

Problem

Your company changed its UPS logins, for example by creating new logins or changing the password on the old one. You added UPS in Shipstore again with the new login, and the registration went through. Now every UPS shipment shows this error from UPS:

Invalid or missing account number

Switching to your other UPS account number shows the same error.

Cause

The UPS login you used to register UPS in Shipstore does not have your UPS account number linked to it. The registration only checks the login, so the problem shows up when you ship. How to check: if the error started right after a UPS login change and appears on every UPS shipment, this is the likely cause.

Fix

  1. Note which UPS login you used to register UPS in Shipstore and which UPS account number you ship on.
  2. Find out who manages each of your UPS account numbers on ups.com.
  3. Link your existing UPS account number to the login you registered in Shipstore.
  4. Process a UPS shipment again.
  5. If you are not sure how your UPS logins and accounts are set up, email support@shipstore.com. Support can review your UPS setup with you.

Same error with no login change

UPS can also return this version of the error when nothing changed in your UPS logins:

Missing or Invalid account number for Payment Details.

In the reported case the cause was not found. Support registered the UPS account in Shipstore again, and rates and labels then worked. If you see this message, email support@shipstore.com with the time of the error and a shipment number.

What you should see

The UPS shipment processes and the label prints with no account number error.
