When you generate a UPS return for an order that originally shipped as two or more packages, Shipstore shows a message that only 1 package is allowed, and the multi-package return will not process as one return.

only 1 package allowed

Cause

This is a UPS rule, not a Shipstore problem. On some return services (for example UPS Ground) UPS allows only one return label per return, no matter how many packages were in the original shipment. Shipstore is passing along the UPS limit.

Fix

  1. Confirm the original order shipped as more than one package and the return uses a UPS service with the one-label limit (for example UPS Ground).
  2. Generate a separate return for each package, so each package gets its own return label.
  3. Give the individual return labels to the customer.

What you should see

Each package gets its own UPS return label, and the 'only 1 package allowed' message does not appear when the return has a single package.
