UPS shipments set to Third Party billing can fail with "No Bill To address supplied" even when the Bill To account and address are filled in. On older versions the Bill To address is not added to the UPS request until you open and close the Bill To section. A recent Shipstore update fixes this.
Problem
You set a UPS shipment to Third Party billing and fill in the Bill To account and address, but every time you process it you get:
No Bill To address supplied
Expanding the Bill To section and then collapsing it before you press Process lets the shipment go through.
Cause
On older versions, the Bill To section only adds its address to the UPS request after you open and close it. If you process without doing that, the Bill To address is empty in the request, and UPS rejects it with "No Bill To address supplied." A recent Shipstore update fills the Bill To address on page load, so the error stops.
Fix
- Make sure Shipstore is on the current release, where this is fixed.
- On an older version, open the shipment and set the Terms to Third Party.
- Enter the Bill To account and address.
- Expand the Bill To section, then collapse it.
- Press Process.
- If it still fails, check the Bill To country, state, city, and postal code, and the third-party account number. Make sure the postal code matches what UPS has on file, and that UPS has approved the account for third-party billing.
What you should see
- A UPS Third Party shipment processes on the first Process click, with no need to touch the Bill To section, on the current release.
- The label shows the Third Party bill-to.
