USPS shipments can fail across all stations at once when the outside service Shipstore uses for USPS labels has an outage. Confirm the outage, wait for it to recover, and retry. If USPS still fails after recovery, remove and re-add the affected USPS service on the profile.
Problem
USPS shipments fail across stations and orders at the same time. The message reads either:
We're sorry something went wrong. Please retry your request or contact support.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Cause
The outside service Shipstore uses to create these USPS labels is having an outage, so every USPS attempt shows a general error. It clears when that service recovers. There is also a no-outage version: the same "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" can appear when one USPS service on the profile is out of date and no longer matches the current provider. Removing and re-adding that service on the profile loads the current settings.
Fix
- Check whether the failure hits all USPS shipments at once. That points to an outage rather than one bad order.
- Email support@shipstore.com to confirm the USPS label service status. Shipstore receives outage notices and can confirm.
- Wait for the service to recover, then process the shipment again.
- If USPS still fails after recovery, remove and re-add the affected USPS service on the profile so the current settings load, then retry.
What you should see
USPS shipments process again once the service recovers. A single retry after recovery returns a label with no setting change.
