Is there one document or barcode a driver can scan so that every package on a load updates to a received status at once, instead of the carrier scanning each package?

Answer

No. The End of Day (EOD) manifest and its printed scan form do not mark packages as received in the carrier's system. The only thing that marks a package received is the carrier scanning that package at its facility.

In Shipstore, shipment information is sent to the carrier when you process the label, so the carrier already has the data whether or not you run EOD. Running EOD mainly matters for a profile that has a Trailer Rule attached (to send queued notification emails) or that needs an EOD report.

What to do

  1. Expect the carrier's facility scan to be what marks each package received; there is no barcode that makes the carrier accept all packages at once.
  2. Run EOD where it serves a purpose on that profile: a Trailer Rule that sends notification emails, or an EOD report. If a profile has no such need, EOD is optional.
  3. If your goal is to notify recipients sooner, turn on carrier or email notifications instead of relying on the EOD barcode.
