Summary: A single order can fail to process when too many notification email addresses are entered on it. Remove the extra addresses so one or two are left, then process the order again.

Problem

One order will not process, while other orders on the same profile ship fine the same day. The order that fails has several notification email addresses filled in on the Shipment Options page.

Cause

Every notification address you enter is sent with the shipment. Too many addresses on one shipment makes it fail. In the case behind this article the shipment carried four addresses; shipments with one or two processed normally.

How to check: open the order that failed and count the notification addresses on the Shipment Options page. A long Ship To Contact was checked first in this case and was not the cause.

Fix

  1. Open the order that will not process.
  2. Go to the Shipment Options page.
  3. Look at the notification email addresses on the shipment.
  4. Delete the extra addresses so only one or two are left.
  5. Process the shipment again and check that a label prints.
  6. If it still fails, check that the Ship To Contact is 35 characters or fewer and that the ship-to address is complete.

What you should see

The order processes and prints a label, and the other orders on the profile keep shipping normally.
