Summary: Shipstore can record who picked and who packed an order. The Picker and Packer prompts appear during shipping, and the values show in Shipment Details, so you can report on them. If the people who pack are not the people who ship, moving those prompts to the packing step is custom work.

Before you start

  • Someone with administrator rights has to turn the Picker and Packer prompt on.
  • Decide where the values must be entered: while the order is being shipped, or during a separate packing step.
  • If you want people to scan a badge or personal barcode instead of typing a name, the scan goes into the same prompt.

Steps

  1. Decide where the values have to be entered, at shipping or at packing. That decision is what sets the rest of this.
  2. If the same people pack and ship, ask your Shipstore administrator to turn on the Picker and Packer prompt. The prompts then appear while the order is being shipped, and each person types or scans their value.
  3. Ship a test order and enter a Picker value and a Packer value.
  4. Open that shipment in Shipment Details and check both values saved.
  5. If packing is done by different people and the values have to be entered at packing, email support@shipstore.com and say so. The prompts only appear in the shipping steps, so moving them to packing is a small code change rather than a setting, and Shipstore quotes the work.
  6. Once the values are being captured, use them in a shipment report to see packing numbers per person.

What you should see

The Picker and Packer prompts appear at the step you set up, and both values show in Shipment Details on finished shipments.

If something goes wrong

  • No prompt appears when you ship. The prompt is not turned on for the profile you are shipping under. Ask your administrator to turn it on, or email support@shipstore.com.
  • The values are blank on your report. The prompts were skipped at shipping. The values are only saved when somebody enters them.
