If processing a return gives you two labels when you only wanted one, or the extra label shows a reversed or partial (city, state, ZIP only) address, the profile setting Print Return Labels w/ Shipment is turned on.
Cause
With Print Return Labels w/ Shipment on, every shipment you process also builds a return label with the ship-to and return-to reversed. If that return label shows only city, state, and ZIP with no name or street, it is because the original recipient name and street address are removed after 30 days, so only the city, state, and ZIP were left to build from.
Fix: print only a return label (call tag)
- On the shipping screen, open the returns card (or in Shipment History choose Generate a return).
- Leave Print Return Labels w/ Shipment unchecked.
- Check only Return Label (Call Tag) and set the Return Method to Print Return Label.
- Enter the return details and process.
Send an electronic return label instead
To have the carrier email the return label to the customer, open the returns card, choose the electronic label option, pick the Return Method, enter the return details, and process. On carriers that support it (for example FedEx) the label reaches the customer by email, usually within about 10 minutes.
What you should see
Processing a return produces one label, not two, and it carries the return-to address you intended.
