How GlobalPost Works

Shipping Process

  1. Create Your Label:
  2. Ship to Processing Facility: Your package receives a label with the nearest GlobalPost Domestic Processing Facility address
  3. International Processing: GlobalPost receives your shipment, applies the international label and required customs documentation
  4. Last-Mile Delivery: Package is handed to a postal carrier for international transport
  5. Final Delivery: Local postal service in the destination country completes delivery to the recipient

Best for: Lightweight packages where tracking to customs clearance is sufficient

  • Weight Limit: Up to 4.4 pounds
  • Package Types: Flats up to 16 ounces and packages up to 4.4 pounds
  • Transit Time: 10-14 business days
  • Tracking: Door-to-country (tracked until clearing US customs)
  • Maximum Value: $400
  • Coverage: Not included
  • Duties & Taxes: Paid by buyer

GlobalPost International Standard

Best for: Standard international shipments requiring full tracking

  • Weight Limit: Up to 70 pounds
  • Package Types: Packages up to 70 pounds
  • Transit Time: 8-12 business days
  • Tracking: Door-to-door (full journey tracking)
  • Maximum Value: Varies by country
  • Coverage: Up to $100 loss/damage plus shipping costs (included)
  • Duties & Taxes: Paid by buyer

Best for: Shipments where you want to prepay duties and taxes

Canada DDP

Special service for Canadian shipments through USPS services

  • Flat Fee: $9.95 per shipment
  • Compatible Services: Priority Mail International®, Priority Mail Express International®, USPS First Class Mail International®
  • Weight Limit: 4 pounds or less, $200 value maximum
  • Key Benefit: Recipients don't pay duties/taxes upon delivery

Package Requirements

General Requirements

  • Packages must meet standard shipping dimensions and weight limits for selected service
  • Accurate package dimensions should always be included to avoid post-shipment adjustments
  • GlobalPost uses dimensional weight pricing

Prohibited Items

GlobalPost cannot ship:

  • Hazardous materials or dangerous goods (as defined by Title 49 of U.S. Code of Federal Regulations)
  • Items prohibited by USPS international shipping restrictions
  • Tobacco products (including e-cigarettes, vape pens, electronic pipes)
  • Weapons, ammunition, explosives
  • Perishable items
  • Live animals or plants
  • Illegal substances

Weight Considerations

  • Weights are rounded to the nearest pound
  • Packages exceeding the maximum weight for a service will not be accepted
  • Dimensional weight may apply - always provide accurate package dimensions

Customs & Duties

  • DDU (Duties & Taxes Unpaid): Recipient pays all duties and taxes (Economy & Standard services)
  • DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): Shipper pays all duties and taxes upfront (Plus, Go, and Canada DDP services)
  • Six-digit HS codes are now required for all international shipments (as of September 1, 2025)

Coverage & Claims

  • Economy: No loss/damage coverage included (third-party insurance available up to $400 via ParcelGuard)
  • Standard: $100 coverage for loss/damage plus shipping cost refund
  • Plus & Go: $200 coverage for loss/damage plus shipping cost refund
  • Claims not honored for items confiscated as contraband or if recipient refuses customs duties
