A suite or building number in Address 3 does not print on the label

Summary: When a suite or building number is stored in the order's Address 3 field, it does not print on the label by default and the carrier can flag it as missing. Add a business rule to append Address 3 to the label address.

Problem

The carrier says the building or suite number is missing, and it is not on the label, even though the order holds it in the Address 3 field. By default that line is not added to the shipping address on the label.

Cause

The building or suite number is in the Address 3 field. Shipstore does not add Address 3 to the label address by default, so the carrier never gets it.

How to check: Open the order and look at Address 3. If the building or suite number is there but not on the label, that is the cause.

Fix

  1. Open the order and check that the building or suite number is in the Address 3 field.
  2. Go to Admin > Business Rules.
  3. Add a rule that appends Address 3 to the address used on the label.
  4. Scope the rule to the profile or the orders that need it.
  5. Process a test order and check that the building or suite number prints on the label.
  6. If you need help building the rule, email support@shipstore.com and include your company name and an example order.

What you should see

A test label shows the building or suite number from Address 3, and the carrier no longer flags it as missing.
