Blind ship: print a different sender on the label
Summary: Blind-ship by printing a different From/sender on the carrier label (and removing words like DROPSHIP from the To block) without changing the real ship-from address. Set it up with a business rule.
Before you start
You need admin access to Business Rules. Decide the scope first: all shipments (a global rule) or only some profiles (a profile-level rule).
Steps
- For a profile-level rule, open the admin portal. In the left Navigation Panel, select Profiles, open the profile, open the Profile Extras tab, select Business Rules, and add a shipping rule with the + button. Repeat on each profile that should blind-ship.
- In the rule, set the label From/sender to the name and address you want printed. The real ship-from stays the same.
- To remove text such as DROPSHIP from the To block, add a rule action that clears or rewrites that field.
- If the sender name prints twice, remove the Contact-as-fallback address source so only the name you want prints (safe when you do not need the company name, such as all-residential shipments).
- For residential FedEx shipments, set the service to FedEx Home Delivery rather than a commercial ground service.
- Process a test order and check the label.
What you should see
The label shows the sender (From) you set and a clean To block, the sender name prints once, and the real ship-from address is unchanged.
If something goes wrong
The sender prints twice. The rule is copying the Contact record as a fallback; remove that fallback. You need help building the rule. Email support@shipstore.com and include your company name and an example order.
