Create a New User

You must have admin access to create users.‌

  1.  Go to the Administration page.
  2.  On the left navigation menu, click Users. You will see a list of current users. In the top right corner,   click the plus button to add a user.

3. After clicking the plus button, you will see a window pop up.‌

4. Use the options in this window to set the user's display name, username, email., and permissions. You may also elect to assign them a password. Typically you will leave this option off, as we do not normally want to assign a password to a user. Instead, we want them to create their own password.‌

5. Click Create User to complete the process. A link will be sent to the email you entered for the user. This link will allow them to set their password and complete the registration process.

Set which profiles the new user can reach

While you are in the new user window, set the user's profile access: give them every profile, or restrict them to only the profile or profiles they should ship under. On a site with several profiles this is what keeps a shipper on their own location's settings.

If you need to change it later, open the user again in User Administration and edit the profile access. On a site with a lot of profiles that screen can take a while to open, because Shipstore loads every profile to read the access values. See the related article on the Edit User screen hanging.

If you do not have Admin access

Adding users is an Admin-only job, so if you are not an Admin user you will not see the option to add one.

  1. Ask an Admin user at your company to add the user for you. That is the fastest path.
  2. If nobody at your company has Admin access, email support@shipstore.com with the person's name, email address, the permissions they need, and the profiles they should reach. Adding users on your behalf is a paid request.

What the new user does

The new user gets an email invitation. They open the link in the invitation, set their own password, and then sign in. Nobody, including support, can set or look up a password for them.
