Summary: A profile-switch rule test can time out when your Merchant app is pointed at a test environment while the order and profile are in production. Point the Merchant app at the correct environment and the rule works.
Problem
While setting up a profile-switch rule, a test order returned a time-out error from Shipstore, even though the rule itself was set up correctly.
Cause
The Merchant app (the app that loads your orders) was pointed at the test environment while the order and profile were in production. That mismatch caused the timeout. It was not a problem with the rule.
How to check: confirm which environment your order and profile are in, then check which environment the Merchant app is pointed at. If they do not match, this is the cause.
Fix
- Confirm the order and profile you are testing are in production.
- Open the Merchant app settings and check which environment it points to.
- Set the Merchant app to point at the correct (production) environment.
- Reload and reprocess the test order. The profile-switch rule now runs.
- Do not run two Merchant app instances (one per environment) at the same time. That is not supported.
- If you cannot find or change the Merchant app environment setting, email support@shipstore.com and include your station name and which environment you expect to use.
What you should see
The test order loads with no timeout and switches to the correct profile.
