Summary: Shipping History shows the reference held on the shipment, not the one on the package. A business rule copies Reference 2 from the package up to the shipment. When that rule is missing, the value never reaches Shipping History.
Problem
You type Reference 2, for example a box load ID, before shipping. It is there while you work on the order, but after the shipment it is blank in Shipping History. There is no error message. Your team uses Reference 2 to look up tracking numbers.
Cause
Reference 2 is entered on the package. Shipping History shows the reference held on the shipment. A business rule copies the package value up to the shipment. When that rule is missing, or does not fire, the value is saved on the package but never reaches the shipment, so Shipping History shows nothing.
How to check: the value is visible before you ship and missing only in Shipping History. That points at the copy rule, not at your typing.
Fix
- Confirm the value is there before you ship, and missing only in Shipping History.
- Check the business rule that copies the package Reference 2 to the shipment reference, and confirm it runs at the right event. Add it if it is not there.
- If you cannot find or change the rule, email support@shipstore.com. Say that package Reference 2 is not reaching the shipment reference, and give one shipment as an example.
- Ship a test order and check that Reference 2 shows in Shipping History.
- Until the rule is in place, build a saved report filtered on Reference 2 so your team can still pull tracking numbers.
What you should see
After a real shipment, Reference 2 shows in Shipping History and you can use it to find the tracking number.
