Summary: A business rule can set Proof of Delivery to Adult Signature Required on its own, so nobody has to pick it on each shipment. The rule only works if you match it on a value that is on every order you want.

Before you start

You need access to business rules, and one value that is on every order you want to catch: a ShipTo Company name that never changes, or the third-party billing carrier account number those orders share.

Steps

  1. Decide which value marks the orders. A ShipTo Company name works when it is always the same. If you drop-ship and the company changes from order to order, use the third-party billing account number instead, because it stays the same.
  2. Create a business rule on a before-ship event (Before Shipment).
  3. Set the rule's condition to that value. For a company name, use an exact is match.
  4. Set the rule's action to set Proof of Delivery to Adult Signature Required.
  5. Save the rule.
  6. Process a test order that matches the condition, and check that Proof of Delivery shows Adult Signature Required.

What you should see

Orders that match the rule ask for an adult signature at delivery on their own. Orders that do not match are unchanged.

If something goes wrong

  • The rule fires on some orders but not others. The value you matched on is not on every order. Switch the condition to the third-party billing account number those orders share.
  • You cannot find the rule screens, or the rule will not save. Email support@shipstore.com with the rule name and what you want it to do.
