The Translations admin section allows you to convert codes for the service and country fields that import into the system (from either an integration or file import) to the matching value in SHIPSTORE.

Service Translations

Service Translations apply to the values we import for the carrier/service from an outside source.

When creating/modifying a Service Translation, a window will display to edit this information. Just give the translation a name, choose the SHIPSTORE service to select, and enter the code that will be coming from the OMS/ERP for this service. Additionally, you can add defaults to the translation so that fields on the shipment can be set automatically (i.e. Require Signature).

Country Translations

Similar to Service Translations, Country Translations are used to convert the codes that are being passed to SHIPSTORE to the matching option in the system. SHIPSTORE natively supports 2 digit country codes, so translations are only needed here if your system is sending the country in any other format.

Creating/modifying a country translation will open an edit window for you to enter a name, choose the SHIPSTORE country, and enter the code that will come from the OMS/ERP for the country.

Where to go for the two things people ask most

Two Translations questions come up often enough to have their own articles. Both are on this site.

  • An order arrives with the wrong country code, for example UK when Shipstore expects GB: see "Map an incoming country code to the right one, for example UK to GB". A Country Translation fixes it for good and is simpler than a business rule.
  • The wrong carrier goes back to your system after you ship: see "The wrong carrier code goes back to your system after you ship". The usual cause is more than one service translation pointing the same incoming code at different services, so Shipstore can pick the wrong one.

Keep one translation per service. Duplicate service translations for the same incoming code are the single most common cause of the wrong service being selected. If you need a specific carrier code returned to your system, an After Shipment Loads business rule can set it.

Shipstore expects two-letter country codes, so a Country Translation is only needed when your system sends something else.
