Summary: A label from a foreign origin to a foreign destination (for example China to the UK) on a US-based account fails with Object reference not set. Shipstore does not support foreign-to-foreign shipments. Create the label in the carrier's own software instead.

Problem

You try to create a label where both the ship-from and ship-to are outside the US, and it fails with:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Cause

This is working as designed. Shipstore supports US-origin international shipments, plus Canada or Mexico origins shipping to the US. It does not support a foreign origin paired with a foreign destination on a US-based account. That unsupported combination shows up as the general "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" message instead of a clear notice.

How to check: look at the ship-from and ship-to countries. If both are outside the US, and the origin is not Canada or Mexico shipping to the US, Shipstore cannot create the label.

Fix

  1. Confirm the ship-from and ship-to countries.
  2. If both are outside the US, create the label in the carrier's own shipping software. For FedEx, use FedEx Ship Manager if your account has access.
  3. For Canada or Mexico origins, ship to the US only. Those origin-to-US shipments are supported in Shipstore.
  4. If you are unsure whether your shipment is supported, email support@shipstore.com with the ship-from and ship-to countries.

What you should see

Supported shipments (US origin, or Canada or Mexico origin shipping to the US) process without the error. A true third-country label is created in the carrier's own software.
