Summary: You added your logo to a pallet label with a file path, and the preview fails saying it could not find the file. Shipstore runs on the server, not on your computer, so it cannot read a file on your desktop. For a PDF label the logo has to sit in the server Extras folder. For a label that goes straight to a Zebra printer you paste in a ZPL image value instead of a path.

Problem

You add a logo line to a pallet label and point it at your logo file, saved as a GIF. When you preview the label it fails with a message that it could not find the file. The path is a folder on your own PC, such as your desktop.

Cause

Shipstore runs on the server. It cannot reach files saved on your computer, so a path to your desktop will always fail.

What the path should be depends on how the label prints. A PDF label reads the logo from a file, and that file has to be on the server in the Extras folder. A label that goes straight to a Zebra printer does not use a file at all: the printer draws ZPL, so the GIF has to be turned into a ZPL image value that sits in the label itself.

How to check: look at the logo path. If it starts with a drive letter on your PC, or points at your desktop, that is why the preview cannot find it.

Fix

PDF labels

  1. Put the logo GIF on the server, in the Extras folder.
  2. Set the logo path on the pallet label to that Extras path, not a path on your PC.
  3. Preview the label and check the logo shows.
  4. If you cannot put a file on the server yourself, email support@shipstore.com, attach the logo, and ask for it to be added to the Extras folder.

Labels sent straight to a Zebra printer

  1. Go to the Labelary website at labelary.com, a free public tool for ZPL labels.
  2. Add your logo image to a label there.
  3. Copy the image value the site gives you.
  4. Paste that value into the logo or image field on your label in Shipstore, in place of a file path.

Picture rule for both: use a black-and-white image only. Any other colors, greys included, will not come out right on the label.

What you should see

A PDF label previews with the logo and no could-not-find-the-file message, a Zebra label prints the logo from the ZPL value, and the logo is clean black and white with nothing washed out or missing.
