If a label reprints to the Zebra printer instead of opening as a PDF, and pop-ups are not blocked, the original label was printed straight to a Zebra printer. Where a reprint goes follows the station Station ID. Set the station Station ID to "Not Linked" to reprint or print new labels as a PDF.

Problem

After you process a shipment, the label does not open as a PDF to print or save, even though pop-ups are allowed. The label went straight to a Zebra printer. This also comes up for return labels when you need a PDF copy of a return label that already printed to the Zebra.

Cause

Where a reprint goes is set by how the label was first printed, which follows the station Station ID. If the original label was printed at a station linked to a Zebra printer, the reprint goes to that same Zebra printer instead of making a PDF. It is the Station ID link, not the pop-up blocker, that sends the label to the printer. A label first printed to a Zebra cannot be turned into a PDF for that original print.

Fix

  1. Check the Station ID for the station or shipment. If it is not "Not Linked", the label went to that linked printer and reprints will go there too.
  2. To make a PDF, set the current station Station ID to "Not Linked" before you process or reprint.
  3. Make sure your browser allows pop-ups for the Shipstore site so the PDF can open.
  4. Reprint or reprocess with the station set to "Not Linked" to get the PDF to print or save.
  5. For a return label, open the original shipment, choose Reprocess, set the station drop-down to Generate Return, and process it as "Not Linked" to make a new PDF return label.
  6. If a new return is blocked because the return labels would be more than the cartons on the original shipment, reprint the existing return labels and share that copy, or create a standalone return shipment.

What you should see

With the station set to "Not Linked", a newly processed or reprinted label opens as a PDF to print or save. A label first printed to a Zebra still reprints to that Zebra, which confirms the Station ID controls where it goes.
